The obverse features the Bank of China Tower, the Bank of China Building, the old Bank of China Hong Kong Branch, the Bank of China Head Office in Beijing, the Great Wall of China and an ancient building pillar of the bank.

The reverse features the first Hong Kong dollar-denominated banknote issued in 1994, depicting Victoria Harbor as seen from Victoria Peak. The current skyline of Victoria Harbor and a modern container terminal is superimposed.
