There are few topics which are never-ending and can be discussed at its length. And if it’s Gupta coin then collectors can go on and on... We already saw various types of Samudragupta coins like Standard, King-Queen, Lyrist, and Ashvamedha.The coin shown alongside is Battle Axe Type of Samudragupta coins. It weighs around 7.34g. The obverse of the coin depicts a king standing facing left, holding a Battle-Axe in the left hand, right hand resting on his waist, Brahmi legend Samudra below his left hand, a dwarf attendant (Vamana) on the left looking up to the king from behind holding crescent-topped standard, with Brahmi legend Kritantaparshurjayatyajita rajjetajitah. The reverse depicts goddess Lakshmi seated facing on a throne, holding pasha (noose) in her right hand, cornucopia in the left hand, Tamgha on left and right Brahmi legend mentions the battle-axe as 'Krutanta parashu'.
The other types of coins Samudragupta issued were Archer Type, Tiger Slayer Type and Kacha Type (Certainly).
