Coins Celebrating American Legion and Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame to be Released

Commemorative coin programs celebrating 100 years of the American Legion and Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame have been introduced through a legislation that was passed on 25th September. The legislation requires President's signature to be put into effect. The coins would be released in 2019 along with the four-coin Apollo 11 50th Anniversary Coin Program which is approved already.The Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame legislation would move the prospective coins’ issue year to 2020. Over 50,000 gold $5 half eagles, 400,000 silver dollars and 750,000 copper-nickel clad half dollars would be released in Proof and Uncirculated versions to observe the 100th Anniversary of American Legion.
Not more than 50,000 gold $5 coins, 400,000 silver dollars, and 750,000 copper-nickel clad half dollars in Proof and uncirculated versions would be released in 2020 to celebrate the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.
