The Bosnian War of 1992-1995 began after the end of European Communism and the fall of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia in the early 1990s. Serb, Croat, and Bosniak people fought for many years. They were also helped by Croatians and Serbs who lived outside Bosnia. There was peace at the end.

Bosnia and Herzegovina are divided with a central Bosniak government sharing control with semi-autonomous Croatian Herzeg-Bosnia, and Serbian Republika Srpska. Postage stamps are issued by all three governments.

Sputnik 2 satellite was launched by the Soviet Union on 7th November 1957. A stray dog named Laika from Moscow launched into space as well. It was for the first time that an animal was carried to space. Laika died due to overheating after some hours.

Bosnia released special stamps on 15th November 2017 featuring Laika wearing space harness just before the launch. The 3-mark Space Flight of Laika on Sputnik 2 stamp in mint never-hinged condition has a market value of $5. Space and dog lovers are constantly in search for mint panes.
