CIT’s “The 7 Summits” series celebrates the world’s seven most amazing summits. Mount Everest is the highest summit at 8,848 meters, situated on the border between China and Nepal, and Tibet on the plateau. Mount Everest is also called “Holy Mountain” or “Holy Mother (of the universe)”. The tallest mountain peak was named in 1856 after the British surveyor George Everest. Edmund Hillary and his Sherpa Tensing Norgay climbed Mount Everest for the first time on 29th May 1953. Reinhold Messner and Peter Habeler climbed the mountain for the first time without supplemental oxygen after 25 years. The terrain of the peak is extremely steep and sharp.
