Niue Coins Celebrate Year of the Dog

The New Zealand Mint released two Disney-licensed coins for the lunar coin collection featuring Mickey Mouse for Niue.The Lunar Year of the Dog begins in 2018. The Proof 2018 .999 fine silver $2 coin features Mickey Mouse with a dog from Disney’s Chinese Zodiac Animals collection. The Chinese character for "dog" is inscribed in red. The reverse of New Zealand Mint’s first Lunar Foil, a 5-gram silver rectangular-shaped 20 cents coin, also depicts the same design.
The engraved foil also depicts the image for Year of the Dog from Disney’s Chinese Zodiac Animals collection and the Chinese character for "dog" in red. The reverse of each foil depicts the serial number in the mintage while the certificate of authenticity is printed on the packaging. Both the coins depict a common portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. The coins come in special packaging. The 1-ounce coin has a mintage limit of 10,000 pieces and costs $85.
