Swann Galleries is going to offer a roll of 83 banknotes in New York City on 7th November with an estimated value of $3,500 to $5,000. These notes are special due to their history, origins, and signatures on them.

Actress and singer Marlene Dietrich collected these notes. She was from Germany and became a U.S. citizen in the 1930s. She visited many countries during World War II in the 1930s to entertain troops for the United Service Organizations. She also received the U.S. War Department’s Medal of Freedom in 1947, for her service and her stand against Nazism.

The offered notes belong to different countries and feature 1,000 signatures by military & entertainers like Ernest Hemingway, George S. Patton, and Irving Berlin.

These kinds of notes are called short snorters and are signed by different people travelling together or who met at different events. The note keeps a record of the meeting. It is mostly associated with the military and was used as a souvenir during World War II.
