Looking up towards these imposing forts from the foot of the mountains confounds many people about its making. It's fascinating to know that without any kind of technology and advanced building techniques, they made these forts on the mountain top which still exist to sing the lore of their past.The fort of Golconda is the best example of a man-made structure from the bygone era of valiant Kings. This majestic monument lies on the western outskirts of Hyderabad city. This fort was once the capital of Qutub Shahi Dynasty.
It is believed that this fort was built by the Yadava rulers and later on, its domination was passed to the dynasties like Kakatiyas and Bhamani Sultans. The present fortified structure of Golconda was built in 1525 by Mohammed Quil Qutub Shah.
The brilliant planning of architecture gives a lot of importance to water supply and ventilation systems. This fort is one of the best examples of skills and architectural knowledge of medieval India.
India Post has issued a commemorative stamp to acknowledge this man made wonder in 2002.
