An extremely rare China 1911 Long Whisker Dragon Pattern Gold Dollar, graded NGC SP 63+, was recently certified by NGC. The NGC Advanced Chinese Authentication Bureau (ACAB) authenticated the coin before it was graded by NGC. The coin is also encapsulated with an NGC ACAB Red Dragon label.

The Long Whisker Dragon Pattern Gold Dollar was struck in 1911 during a crucial time period in Chinese history. Two millennia of imperial rule under the Qing Dynasty was coming to an end. The last emperor of China, the six-year old Puyi was abdicated one year after this coin was struck.

The obverse depicts a dragon due to which the coin is called Long Whisker Dragon. The reverse features a Chinese character for “silver”. The offered coin was struck in gold and is one of the very few existing examples.

Famous collectors like King Farouk of Egypt, numismatist Eduard Kann, British collector Eli Wallitt and collector Haru S. C. Chang of the Chang Foundation have owned the coin. Currently, it is a part of the Chen Gi Mao collection.
