The gold coin featured in the image alongside belongs to Rashtrakutas. They ruled from 6th to 10th Century. It weighs around 4 grams. The obverse of the coin depicts Garuda seated on a lotus flower within the dotted border of the circle. The reverse shows the legend in Nagari, ‘Shri Shubhtunga; and conch shell, all within the dotted border of the circle.This gold piece was sold for INR 5,00,000 in the Classical Numismatics Gallery in 2010.
