Babur founded of the Mughal Empire in India, after defeating the last ruler of Delhi Sultanate, Ibrahim Lodi in the first Battle of Panipat in 1526. He was the first Mughal ruler to rule some parts of India from 1526 to 1530. He was the eldest son of Umar Sheikh Mirza. Babur issued coins in gold, silver, and copper. Silver coins issued by him have the emperor’s name on the obverse, and mint name and date in the margin; whereas reverse depicts Kalima in the center and the name of the four Khalifas in the margin.

This very rare silver Shahrukhi, which weighs around 4.4g minted at Qandahar, was sold for INR 24,000 at Todywalla Auction. The obverse of the coin is inscribed with the name and title of the king with Hijri date 933. And the reverse of the coin is inscribed with Kalima within the ornate rectangular frame.
