Late Motorcycle Racer Marco Simoncelli to be Honoured on Coin

The 30th Birth Anniversary of late Italian professional motorcycle racer Marco Simoncelli will be celebrated on a special San Marino ringed-bimetallic €5 coin that will be released on 31st August.Born on 20th January 1987, Simoncelli died in Sepang, Malaysia, during the Malaysian Grand Prix on 23rd October 2011. The nation is issuing this coin because Simoncelli’s hometown Cattolica is close to San Marino.
The reverse of the 16-sided 9.5 grams coin features Marco Simoncelli’s portrait. The coin’s copper-nickel center has a bronzital ring made of copper and aluminum. The coin has a mintage limit of 76,493 pieces.
