"Fear Not. What is not real never was and never will be
What is real, always was and cannot be destroyed"
- Bhagavad Gita Chapter-2.

Shree Krishna, son of a King born in a prison nurtured in a house of a Gopal (tribe of cowherds), preacher of the world's biggest doctrine Bhagwat Gita and the Sharathi (charioteer) of the greatest archer of his age!

The most popular and attractive god of the sub-continent, he is Megh-Varna, the completion of a cloud, Go-pal, the protector of the cows, Murli Manohar, who can enchant by the melody of his flute and Madan-Mohan, who can mesmerize Kamadev (cupid) himself with his beauty. Beyond this, he was worshipped not only in the temple but this man who became a god was also depicted on coins.

Many kings have issued coins depicting Shree Krishna with Radha or alone. One among such coins was issued by Venkatappa Nayak one of the rulers of Nayaks of Gingee in Tamil Nadu region. The obverse of this copper coin depicts four armed Lord Krishna playing the flute with one bird (peacock) and cow on each side’s, within dotted border.

The reverse of this coin depicts a Telugu legend which reads "Ven Ka Ta Pa” within a circular ring and decorative dotted border. One other fine example of Shree Krishna depicted on the coin is the silver tanka of Anant Manikya of Tripura.

Krishna is the symbol of eternal love; his journey to become a man who was worshipped like a god is most enchanting. To understand him you have to understand Geeta, he was attached to the world yet he was so detached from it. He was a warrior but yet he kept war as a last resort. Dharma was his doctrine and Karma was his salvation.

Today on the day of Krishna Janma, Mintage World wish you all a very enchanting and mesmerising Krishna Janmashtami! Toh bolo 'Hathi Ghoda palki Jai Kanhaiya Lal Ki’.
