Gold Mohur of Jahandar Shah Sold for INR 60,000

Jahandar Shah was the son of Bahadur Shah I, he sat on the Mughal throne in the year 1712 and ruled it till 1713. After the death of Bahadur Shah in the year 1712, a war between his four sons namely Jahandar Shah, Azim-ush Shan, Rafi-ush-Shan and Jahan shah for the Mughal throne ensued. Finally; it was Jahandar shah who sat on the Mughal throne with the help of Zulfiqar Khan.In the year 1713, he was defeated by Farrukhsiyar, the second son of Azim-ush-shan in the battle at Agra with the help of Sayyid brother.

One of his gold mohur minted at ‘Dar-ul-Khilafat Shahjahanabad, which weighs around 10.8g was sold for INR 60,000 at Todywalla Auction. The obverse of the coin is inscribed as ‘Dar Aafak Zad Sikka Chun Mihr Wa Mah Abu Al-Fateh Ghazi Jahandar Shah’ with AH 1124. And the reverse of the coin is inscribed as ‘Sanah RY Ahad Manus Maimanat Julus zarb dar-ul-Khilafa Shahjahanabad’.
