An 1893-S Morgan dollar graded AU 55 by PCGS was sold for $38,796 by Heritage Auction at the summer Florida United Numismatists convention that was held from 6th to 9th July. An 1876 Seated Liberty 20-cent coin, graded PCGS MS-67 with a CAC sticker was sold for $88,125.

The 20-cent coin is also called a “double dime”. It was struck only for four years and only two of those issues were in circulation. 1876 was the second year of issue and only 15,000 coins were minted that year. Only three of these coins are graded MS-67, one of them is graded MS-67+. The offered coin has smooth fields, frosty lustre and little champagne toning. It is also the finest coin in the denomination.

The coin was sold for $44,650 at a 2015 Heritage auction, and for $54,625 at the January 2010 Florida United Numismatists auction. It has a small spot near Liberty’s forearm and a dot near her drapery.
