Gold Mohur of Assam

The north-east part of India is enriching with the bounty of natural resources. It is not surprising that Assam had a rich history and culture, its natural borders protect it from invasion. This land saw the invasion of Mughal and British but still remained independent.The above shown octagonal gold 1/4th Mohur is the issue King Rajesvara Simha. The obverse of this coin depicts a legend in Bengali "Sri Sri Ra/jeshvara Sim/ha Nripasya" with the raised dotted rim border. The reverse of this coin depicts Sake date 1675 and a legend inscribed in Devanagari with the raised dotted rim border.
This 1/4th Mohur is in extremely fine condition and rare. The Todywalla Auction sold this Gold Mohur for INR 1, 20,000 in Mumbai on 29th June 2017.
