Rome expanded its commercial empire for stretching its borders and increasing wealth.Modern-day Spain and the Iberian Peninsula were occupied by the Romans for a long time. Many interesting coins have been found in these areas. More than 600 ancient Roman coins were found in Sevilla, Spain this April. A cache of 40 to 50 coins from the second century CE was found in southern Spain in July at a mine during regular operations and excavation. Coins issued during the reigns of Nero and Trajan were found in the hoard. Researchers were able to find out about the historical boundaries of cities and settlements in the area due to the discovery. These coins talk about the people who lived in this part of Spain more than 1,800 years ago.
This new hoard will be displayed at the Mining Museum in Minas de Rio Tinto temporarily until they are bought by someone.
