Seven Wonders of the Ancient World- III
2017-07-13 Thu
The third Ancient Marvel on our list is the Temple of Artemis at Ephesus. As discussed before each and every Greek city-state had its own patron God. Similarly, Artemis was the deity of Ephesus.Artemis was the goddess of hunting and wild animals. She is usually seen with her sacred animal deer and bow and arrow. The coins of Ephesus too have a deer on them.
The Temple of Artemis at Ephesus was built to honour their Patron Goddess Artemis. The temple is assumed to be destroyed three times and every time when it was reconstructed, it was built massive in size than before. The first temple of Artemis was built in 800 BC. Before the final destruction of the temple, it stood up with 121 columns and 60 feet high in the sky. It was indeed an Ancient Marvel and perfectly to be one of the Ancient Wonders of World.
The given stamp of the Republic of Congo issued a stamp on the Temple of Artemis at Ephesus.
