20th Death Anniversary of Princess Diana Remembered on Tokelau Coins

Downies released a Proof .925 fine silver dollar and a Proof .999 fine silver $10 coin for Tokelau, to remember the 20th anniversary of Princess Diana of Wales. Diana was born on 1st July 1961 and got married to Prince Charles in 1981. The marriage ended on 28th August 1996 and she died on 31st August 1997 in an unfortunate car crash.The reverse of the coins features a portrait of Diana in colour wearing an emerald green dress, pearl earrings, and a diamond and pearl tiara. The picture was taken on 21st June 1987. The design also depicts English roses, a special “D” for Diana and other inscriptions. The arrangement of these elements is different for both the coins.
The 20 grams silver dollar has a mintage limit of 1,961 pieces which is also Diana’s birth year. It can be purchased for $99 Australian. The 5 ounces silver $10 coin has a mintage limit of 500 pieces and costs $525 Australian.
