Butterfly on Coin with Precious and Semi-precious Stones

The Royal Canadian Mint released the first coin in their Bejeweled Bugs series of Proof .9999 fine silver $20 coins, featuring a butterfly. The coin’s reverse comes with precious and semi-precious gemstones that have been added by hand.The design also depicts a floral pattern with five-petaled flowers, floral buds, leaves and curly tendrils. The designs are engraved and struck in a Proof finish to improve natural light and sparkle of the butterfly. The stones used to decorate the butterfly design include a round black sapphire; four pear-shaped amethyst stones; and rhodolite stones. The 31.39 grams coin has a mintage limit of 4,000 pieces and can be purchased for $174.95 Canadian.
