2017-06-02 Fri
The latest 200 krone note of Norway is going to feature a cod on one side and the 9th-century Gokstad Ship on the other. Norway’s banknotes will not be featuring famous personalities for the first time to highlight the country’s maritime connections. An interesting video was released by the Central Bank to promote the new notes. The video highlights the importance of the fish in the country and also talks about the latest security features on the notes.A competition was held in 2014 to finalise the designs based on the concepts “the sea brings us out” and “the sea gives us food”. The advanced security features include visible filaments apart from invisible marks. New 50 and 500 krone notes that will be released by the next year-end will be featuring lighthouse and the lifeboat Stavanger respectively. New 1000 kroner notes featuring a blue wave will be released in 2019. The old 100 and 200 krone notes will be valid for 12 months and can be exchanged for 10 years after the new notes are released.
