A block of United States 1914 1¢ green George Washington stamps was auctioned for $18,880.A Flagship sale of U.S. and worldwide material was conducted by the firm of Daniel F. Kelleher where, a 1914 block of four 1¢ green George Washington stamps was sold at $18,880.
The perforations of this issue are not consistent, which makes it an error. The horizontal holes, which cut into the tops of the stamp designs, measure a tighter gauge 12.
Most of these stamps were stuck on mail and discarded. Such unused stamps were sold at $18,880.
