2017-02-13 Mon
“You’re just as sane as I am” –Luna Lovegood.Luna Lovegood, an important character of the Harry Potter universe was the only child and daughter of Xenophilius and Pandora Lovegood. She was born today, 13th February in 1981 and was raised by her father after her mother died while practicing spells when Luna was 9 years old.
She attended Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry (1992-99) and was sorted into Ravenclaw House. She joined Dumbledore’s Army in her fourth year and participated in various battles along with Harry Potter. Some of them are- the Battle of the Department of Mysteries (1996), the Battle of the Astronomy Tower (1997), the Second Wizarding War (1999), etc.
During her years in Hogwarts she was also called “Loony Lovegood” due to her quirkiness. After the war, Luna became a Magizoologist (magical naturalist) and eventually married Rolf Scamander, with whom she had twin sons, Lorcan and Lysander. Although many thought Luna was bizarre, Harry, Hermione, Ron, Neville, Ginny, Dean Thomas, and Ollivander eventually became very fond of her. She had an amazing quality of comforting others under extreme situations. Harry and Ginny Potter named their daughter and third child, Lily Luna Potter, in honor of her.
United States Postal Service released this commemorative stamp of Luna Lovegood wearing spectrespecs in 2013 under the series Harry Potter Forever stamps.
