Austria 2017 5 Euro Coin Celebrates The Blue Danube Waltz

Austria issued 2017 5 Euro nine-sided coins celebrating The Blue Danube waltz, written by Austrian composer Johann Strauss. The Blue Danube has been played as the first song on Austrian radio on 1st January since many years. The mintage limit of the .800 10.00g Special Uncirculated Silver coin is 50,000 and that of the 8.90g Uncirculated copper version is 200,000.The reverse features a man and woman dancing to music. The first two bars are superimposed over the bottom design in the key D, which is also the key in which the song is played. A portrait of Johann Strauss playing the violin is also featured recreating the golden statue of the Johann Strauss Monument at Vienna's Stadtpark. Other inscriptions include 150 JAHRE DONAUWALZER ("150 Years of The Blue Danube Waltz") and the year 2017.
The common obverse features nine shields representing the nine federal provinces of Austria, the number "5", REPUBLIK OSTERREICH, EURO. The edges of both the coins are smooth.
