Ala Al-Din Husain (AH 899-925; AD 1493-1519) was the sultan of Bengal, his original name was Sayyeed Husain. He founded the Hussain Shahi dynasty. He became the ruler of Bengal after assassinating the Abyssinian sultan, Shams ud-din Muzaffar shah, to whom he served as a wazir.

Reign of Husain shah was a period of prosperity. The liberal attitude of Husain Shah towards his Hindu subject was also one of the important features of his reign. All the damages done by the Habshi Sultan to the kingdom were repaired by him. He also maintained discipline in the army as well as undertook many military campaigns.

He issued three different categories of coins, which have different types within it.

1) Coin with the name of the legend on the obverse and Shahada on the reverse.

2) ‘Victory Coins’.

3) Coin in which ruler's name is spread on both the sides.

One of his silver tankas, minted in Khazana was sold for INR 5,500 at Classical Numismatic Gallery in an Auction held on 21st January 2017. This silver tanka with the legend and Shahada, Obverse of the coin inscribed as ‘Ala Al-Dunya Wa Al Din Abul Muzaffar Husain Shah Al-Sultan Khallada Allah Mulkahu wa Sultanahu’ and reverse of the coin inscribed with Shahada.
