Jean-Paul Riopelle was a Canadian painter and sculptor from Quebec, best known for his abstract painting style. He was one of the globally reversed Canadian artists of the 20th Century.

Canadian Mint issued commemorative coins of 200 $ Canadian dollars featuring his final work L’Hommage à Rosa Luxemburg, on reverse to commemorate his 100th Birth Anniversary on 2023. The obverse of the coin features bust of ELIZABETH II.
