This beautiful gold Dinara issued by Kushan Empire ruler Kanishka I, is listed at the estimated price of INR 90,000-1,10,000 in the upcoming online auction of the Classical Numismatic Gallery, which will take place on 06 May 2023.
Kanishka I was the great ruler of the Kushan Dynasty, ruled between 127 CE and 150 CE. He is famous for his military, political, and spiritual achievements. He was one of the most powerful Kushan kings and controlled a vast empire.
Kanishka During his reign, I issued this gold dinar, which weights around 7.83g. The obverse of this gold dinar shows a standing king with the Bactrian legend ShAONANOShAOKANESh KIKOShANO around him, clutching a spear in his left hand and offering sacrifices at an altar with his other hand. The reverse side of this gold dinar features standing, four-armed Oesho (Shiva) facing left-leaning Bactrian legend OEShO written on the right and Tamgha to the left.
