Baburao Puleshwar Shedmake was an freedom fighter and the Gond chieftain from Central India. He led the revolt in the Chanda district during the first war of independence of 1857.

Baburao Puleshewar Shedmake was born on 12 March, 1833, in a Gond zamindar family. In 1854, when the British Government took the administration of Chanda from Bhonsale of Nagpur, they brought many changes in administration revenue and religious policy.

When the Revolt of 1857 started in North India, Baburao organized the troops of 500 tribal men and established his army called Jangom Dal. In 1858, he was captured by British Government and hanged.

India post issued his commemorative stamp in 2009 to commemorate him and his work.
