One-Eighth Mohur of Princely State Mewar Sold For INR 1,00,000

Mewar was a princely state during British rule in India. Mughal Emperor Akbar conquered Mewar in 1568 CE. It remained under the control of the Mughal Empire for the next 150 years. When Udaipur state joined the Indian Union in 1949, it had many glorious years ruled by several dynasties of Mori, Guhilot and Sisodia. The rulers of Mewar used the title 'Maharana'.This one-eighth mohur, which weighs around 1.66g, was issued from the princely state Mewar. The obverse side of this coin read as ‘Chitarkot Udaipur in Devanagari’. The reverse side of the coin reads 'DostiLundhun in Devanagari within floral design'. This gold one-eighth mohur got sold for INR 1,00,000 in an auction of Todywalla Auction held in Mumbai on September 17, 2022.
