Gold Dinar of Mahmud Khalji Listed For INR 4,80,000

Mahmud Khalji, also known as Mahmud Khilji and Ala-ud-Din Mahmud Shah I was the ruler of Malwa Sultanate. Mahmud Khalji sat on the throne of Malwa Sultanate after the death of his father Muhammad I in 1436 and ruled it until 1469.The Malwa Sultanate was founded by Dilwar Khan Ghuri, the governor of the Delhi Sultanate, in 1392 AD, with its capital at Dhar. They later shifted their capital to Mandu, which was renamed Shadiabad by the Malwa Sultanate. The Malwa Sultanate is well known for its art and architecture which flourished under their rule.
This gold dinar that weighs around 12.82g was issued by Mahmud Khalji during his rule in Malwa Sultanate in the Hijri Year 872. The obverse side of this coin is inscribed with the name and title of Mahmud Khalji and the reverse side of this coin is inscribed with the ‘Al-Mulk’ legend and AH year. This gold dinar is listed for INR 4,80,000 in the upcoming online auction of Classical Numismatic Gallery that will be held on August 06, 2022.
