to 1490. He sat on the throne of Hungary, at the age of 18, by an election of all the estates. He wanted to create a great dynasty, so he changed his name to Corvinus. Under his rule, Hungary became the first European country to adopt the Renaissance from Italy. As a Renaissance ruler, he established education institutions, patronized art and science, and introduced a new legal system in the Kingdom of Hungary.The Hungarian National Bank issued 1000 Hungarian Forint banknotes that featured him in seven different denominations in 2017. They are currently still in circulation.
