Royal Mint's Pride Celebration

The Royal Mint on May 18 unveiled a commemorative 50-penny coin celebrating the 50th anniversary of Pride UK. This uncirculated coin marks the first celebration of Britain’s LGBTQ+ community on official UK coinage.The first time the UK's LGBTQ+ community has been recognized on an official coin. The new coin has been designed by east London artist and activist Dominique Holmes.
The design, which includes the historic Pride progression flag, is inscribed with Pride in London's values of protest, visibility, unity, and equality in rainbows. With state-of-the-art color printing technology, the iconic colors of the Pride progression flag are recreated on this coin.
The obverse of the coin depicts the right-facing portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, designed by Ian Rank-Broadley. The obverse also features the name of the queen, denomination, and the year of issue.
