Chittaranjan Das was an Indian freedom fighter, political activist, and lawyer during the Indian Independence movement. He was also the founder of the Swaraj Party in Bengal during British colonial rule in India. Chittaranjan Das is generally referred to as DeshBandhu, which means "Friend of Nation".Chittranjan Das completed his education in England, where he became Barrister. He began his career by defending AurobindoGhosh on charges of involvement in the Alipore bomb case in 1909. He also maintains a close relationship with BipinChandrapal and AurobindoGhosh and helped them in publishing the BandeMataram, English weekly for propagating the ideals of swaraj.
