The latest Europa series €50 banknote will be revealed to the public by the European Central Bank on 5th July 2016. The notes would be put into circulation in 2017. An agreement was made between Banknote equipment manufacturers, industry associations and the ECB to see to it that vending, ticketing and other machines accepting banknotes will function with the new €50 note on the planned release date. A seminar was organised at the Banco de España in Madrid on 15th June 2016 to share all this information with the concerned partners.

They will also have to ensure that their, partners, employees and other stakeholders are aware about the new release. Almost 45% of the total eight billion banknotes in circulation is the €50 banknote.

Since April, tests have been carried out with new €50 banknotes inside national central bank buildings. New €50 banknotes are also being offered on loan to interested banknote equipment manufacturers to carry out tests at their respective locations.
