To celebrate the 100th birth anniversary of Swami Chinmayananda, the RBI has officially announced that it is soon going to put into circulation a special Rs. 10 coin.

The reverse will feature a portrait of Swami Chinmayananda in the centre with the inscription "Birth Centenary of Swami Chinmayananda” in Devnagri and English script. The year '2015' will appear below the portrait.

The obverse will depict the Lion Capital of Ashoka Pillar in the centre and the denomination "10" with a Rupee symbol.

RBI stated that the new coins would be a legal tender along with the existing Rs. 10 coins.
