2021-05-12 Wed

Somalia is officially divided into thirteen regions. It is bordered by Kenya to the southwest, the Gulf of Aden to the north, the Guardafui Channel and the Indian Ocean to the east, and Ethiopia to the west. Somali and Arabic are the official languages of the country.

This 50 Shilling Banknote was introduced in 1991 by the Banca Nazionale Somala or National Bank of Somalia. The map of the country resembles the rhinoceros horn and so it is also called the ‘Horn of Africa’.

The one Somali shilling is sub-divided into 100 senti. The Somali shilling was the strongest among the 175 global currencies traded by Bloomberg LP. The 50 Somali shillings or N-Shilin Soomaali features a weaver on the front side and Man with children on a donkey on the reverse side of it.
