Q. David Bowers is soon going to release the 7th volume of the Whitman Encyclopedia of Obsolete Paper Money. The book which is scheduled to be released on 28th June, 2016 , talks about the early banknotes of the Southern states of Alabama, Arkansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Tennessee, and Texas. The book can be pre-ordered before the release for $69.95.The book elaborates about banknotes issued from 1782 to 1866 before National Banks and the Federal Reserve were established. Over 3,000 state-chartered banks issued their own paper money during this time period. The book explains the history of 182 locations, 500 banks in those locations and thousands of fully coloured pictures of banknotes, with information on grading, rarity, values, significant auction results etc.
Many noted researchers, dealers and collectors have given their contributions.
Experts believe that this book would definitely help in aiding research work and imparting knowledge about the financial history of America through banknotes like never before.
