Nicolae Ceausescu was a Romanian Communist and a political leader today. Nicolae Ceausescu remains a communist leader of Romania from 1965 until he was overthrown and killed in a revolution in 1989.

Nicolae Ceausescu was a member of the Romanian Communist youth movement. Later he was raised to the higher rank of the Romanian Communist youth movement. After; the death of Gheorghe Gheorghiu-Dej, first secretary of the Romanian Communist Party, Nicolae Ceausescu succeeded to the leadership of the Romanian Communist Party as general secretary.

The Economic policies of Nicolae Ceausescu proved to be disastrous, destroying his people, though not his, the standard of living. These gave rise to the revolutionary movement amongst the people of Romania. A revolution against Ceausescu's regime began in mid-December in the western city of Timisoara. On December 22, 1989, both Nicolae Ceausescu fled to the capital with his wife; in a helicopter. But, captured and taken into custody by the armed forces. On December 25, 1989, the couple was convicted; by a special military tribunal on charges of mass murder and other crimes. Nicolae Ceau?escu and his wife; were then shot by a firing squad.
