THOR Hammered on Perth Mint Coins

He is known for his strength and his hammer! It is only after he was depicted in a series of films that the world started imagining the might of Thor. This Norse God who brings in lightning, winds and storms with him, now gets to feature in the latest Perth Mint Coin.The mintage limit of this 2016 $2 Thor 2oz 99.9% Pure Silver High Relief Antiqued Rimless Coin issued for the island nation Tuvalu is 2,000 pieces.
The reverse features Thor holding his hammer, in his belt and gripping the serpent Jormungand by its fang. A goat’s head and lightning is seen in the background. Other inscriptions include ‘THOR’ and ‘P’ mintmark.
The obverse features the common portrait of Queen Elizabeth II with an antique finish. Other inscriptions include ‘2OZ 999 SILVER’, ‘2016’, ‘TUVALU’ and ‘2 DOLLARS’.
The first coin that was released and is already sold out under the same series featured Odin. The third and final coin in the series will depict Loki.
The coin can be purchased for AUS $180.91.
