Maple Leaf Shaped Coin By Canadian Mint
2016-06-09 Thu
So it’s true that anybody can be bitten by the creative bug. That’s exactly what has happened with the Royal Canadian Mint! The Mint is going to release a coin in the shape of, guess what? A maple leaf... yes you've read it right. And it’s not the first time that they’ve done that. Another coin of the same shape was released in 2015 as well, this time though they’ve gone extra creative and released a colourful version. The mintage limit of this 99.99% pure silver, one troy ounce coin is 15,000 only.A lot of effort has gone into replicating the irregular shape of a maple leaf. Also the colours used like red, yellow and orange makes them look even more stunning.
The reverse has inscriptions ‘20 DOLLARS’ and ‘2016’ with two small maple leaves. Obverses depict the usual portrait of the Queen with inscriptions ‘CANADA’, ‘ELIZABETH II’ and ‘D G REGINA’.
The coin, encased in a leaf-shaped, dark stained wooden box, can be purchased for CAD $154.95 which amounts to US $121.
