The Ganga Dynasty can divide into two Eastern Ganges Dynasty and Western Ganges Dynasty.The rise of the Imperial Ganges is a remarkable event in the history of Orissa. The reign of the Ganga dynasty is considered as an era of imperial wars and conquest, hectic political activities, sound administration and great cultural attainments.
This gold fanam that weighs around 0.47g was issued from Imperial Gangas of Orissa. The obverse of this coin is inscribed as ‘seated bull facing towards right’. The reverse of this coin is inscribed as Brahmi letter ‘Sa’ and regnal year 4.
