Abbasid Caliph Al-Muqtadir was killed

The youngest Caliph in Abbasid history, Al Muqtadir came to the throne at the age of 13. He enjoyed a longer rule than any of his predecessors.Al- Muqtadir was born in 895, to the Al- Mutadid and Shaghab. His accession was soon challenged by the supporters of the older and more experienced Abdallah ibn al-Mu'tazz, but their attempted coup was quickly and decisively crushed.
During the reign, The Empire lost its territories in North Africa and around Mosul, was close to losing Egypt and was subject to raised by the Greeks. He issued various coins in the denomination of Dinar and Dirham and in their different fractions. These coins were struck at various mints such as Al-Ahwaz, Dimashq, Filastin, Halab, Harran, Misr, Qumm, etc.
Depicted here is a silver Dirham issued under his reign from Shiraz mint. The obverse of a coin has a usual Abbasid quote from Quran. On the other hand, the reverse of a coin inscribed with the legend ‘Muhammadur Rasulullah Al Muqtadir Billah’.
