Proof 1909 Lincoln, V.D.B. Cent Sold For $41,125

On 19th May, the Regency XVII Auction in New Orleans, sold some fine and rare coins including a Proof example of the 1909 Lincoln, V.D.B. cent for $41,125 against an estimate of $33,000 to $36,000.Circulated and Mint State examples of this coin are commonly found unlike the Proof coin graded PCGS Proof 66 brown that was auctioned at the event. The shiny coin boasts of beautiful matte surfaces with an interesting texture without any defects or flaws. The coin was minted with a bold strike and features impressive colours. The rim of the coin is extremely thick unlike any other coin of this type.
The organizers hoped that this coin would fetch a little more than $43,000 and were slightly disappointed with the result.
