USAGOLD Reports That Bullion Coins Are In High Demand
2016-06-03 Fri
As per official reports about global bullion coin sales by USAGOLD, about 89.6 million one ounce silver coins in 2015 were purchased by investors. Statistics show that there has been a rise of 14% since last year.Gold was priced at $1188 per ounce in the beginning of the year and at $1061 by the end. Silver was more volatile at $15.73 per ounce at start which ended at $13.83. U.S. Mint’s gold and silver American Eagle coinage are in big demand in the market. The demand for bullion coins saw an uptrend in 2008 after the financial crisis as investors were concerned about the economy.
The demand has been so high that planchet manufacturers are unable to supply the volumes required. The sale of silver eagles was terminated after July last year after sensing a huge demand. These kinds of stoppages were common after the 2008 crisis as there is a fear of the coins getting out of stock.
Going forward, experts say that it will be very difficult to buy gold coins as they will be in short supply. Only the central banks, giant hedge funds, and billionaires will be able to buy them. Hence now is the best time to invest in gold before its value surges and the supply dries up.
The trend can also be analysed by the fact that the mintage limits for both gold and silver coins are higher than what they were last year.
