Three acting legends: Nargis Dutt, Marilyn Monroe, and Morgan Freeman were born on 1st June. Truly a day when the two most popular film industries of the world rejoiced!Nargis born, 1st June 1929, was a legendary Indian Film actress. Born as Fatima Rashid, she is known by her screen name Nargis. She made her debut in 1935 as a child actress in the film ‘Talash-E-Haq’. Later on, she acted in many legendary films of Bollywood. She is best known for her films ‘Mother India’ and ‘Tamanna’.
India Post in 1993 issued an INR 1 commemorative stamp in honour of this legendary Indian film actress who ruled the silver screen for over two decades.
Marilyn Monroe born, 1st June 1926, was an American actress and model of 1950s. She famous for her beautiful face and for the bold roles she played in the movies. Actress Marilyn Monroe overcame a difficult childhood to become one of the world’s most popular and most enduring bold actresses of American film industry. Born in Los Angeles, she began to work in the modelling industry since the age of 16 and successfully climbed up to one of the astonishing Hollywood actresses. She became a popular actress with roles in several comedies, including ‘As Young as You Feel’ and ‘Monkey Business’.
Many countries from all over the world have honoured her on stamps. St. Vincent in 1994 issued a 1 dollar stamp; Republic du Mali in 1996 issued a 320 francs stamp, the USA in 1995 a 32 cents stamp, Cuba a 15 pesos stamp in 2001.
Morgan Freeman, born 1st June 1937, is an American actor and narrator famous for playing versatile roles. He is one of the most talented actors in Hollywood. Freeman first became known in the American media through roles on the soap opera. He began playing prominent supporting roles in many feature films and is best known for the Movie ‘Invictus’ in which he played the role of Nelson Mandela - the South African leader. Morgan Freeman is ranked as the 4th highest box office star.
