International Children's Day

The 1st day of June is celebrated as International Children’s Day. The day is usually marked with speeches on children's rights and wellbeing, and other events involving or dedicated to children.91 years ago in Geneva, Switzerland the World Conference for the Well-being of Children was held. The aftermath of this conference was the proclamation of 1st June to be celebrated as International Children’s Day.
It is a day dedicated to not only celebrating but also appreciating; the role children play in the future of all communities around the world as well as setting a strong foundation for an opportunity to create a better world for the future of our world.
The day is celebrated differently in each country. Many counties such as Libya, Serbia, Romania and Guine Bissau have issued special commemorative stamps celebrating the occasion.
Libya issued a set of three stamps in the year 2015. The stamps show beautiful cartoon illustrations a young boy having fun at camp. The stamp issued by Guine-Bissau features the present and the future of a child.
The stamp of Romania is the most beautiful one. Issued in 2012 the stamp features a drawing of a young boy and a girl standing in a meadow.
