4th D. Brent Pogue Collection Auction Fetches $16.7M

The fourth auction of the D. Brent Pogue Collection that was held on 24th May realized $16,749,038. As per experts, the total collection of the Auction stands at $85,318,218.50 which is a record in itself.

The Farouk-Pittman 1833 Proof half eagle was sold at $1,351,250 and a 1795 Draped Bust silver dollar at $1,057,500. The reserve price set for the finest known 1804 silver dollar was at a record $10,575,000, which did not realize. The final bid for an extremely rare 1822 $5 half eagle was $7,285,000 which could not cross the reserve value. Eight other coins sold for more than a half million dollars. A 1795 Draped Bust dollar and a 1829 Large Planchet half eagle brought $763,750 each. The extremely rare 1838-O realized $493,500. The finest known 1838-C half eagle, struck at the Charlotte (NC) Mint, brought $235,000 against a $60,000-$90,000 estimate. Several other coins were sold for impressive amounts.
