Ancient Coins to be Auctioned at Numismatik Lanz

A large batch of Greek electrum coins will go under the hammer at the Numismatik Lanz auctions. Ancient coins and medals from all around the world would be sold at the event which will be held on 6th June 2016. The major stars would be the consecration coins of Trajan Decius and their variants. A number of historical highly graded talers of Louis I will also be sold.

Mithradates III, 220-196 (Pontos). Tetradrachm has an estimate of 24,000 euros. It is considered as the most spectacular items of the Hellenistic era. Akanthos (Macedonia). Tetradrachm, 480-424 has a starting price: 6,000 euros. The coin’s design is a proof that the Pangaion Hills was a natural habitat of the lion until he became extinct in Europe during the 1st century CE. Philip VI Andriskos, 150-148 (Macedonia). Drachm, ca. 149-148 has a starting price: 12,000 euros. Phokaia (Ionia). Very rare and extremely fine Electrum hekte, 625-522, will be sold with a starting price: 3,000 euros.
