Rare Silver 2p Error Coin Worth £2,000

Poppy collectors thought that they found a fake coin and did not take it seriously. But they decided to get it verified later and found out that the coin is worth up to £2,000 because of its rarity.

Generally these coins are made of copper, but this one is made of silver. It was moved to the Royal British Legion collection in Wiltshire. Research has revealed that it’s an error coin which was minted when the blank 10p was accidentally put in a 2p mint. In 1988, the same coin could fetch you £1,350.

Earlier this month a 1933 penny, featuring King George V coin was sold for £72,000. Very few of these coins were minted for ceremonial purposes by the Royal Mint as they were already in surplus. Experts say that one in every 300 people could have the Kew Gardens 50p coin, released in 2009 to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the Royal Botanic Gardens. The coin can fetch up to £120 by collectors. A London 2012 Olympic swimming 50p coin was sold for £820 last year, but its value has fallen down to £1-£2. But you might want to keep this coin with you as its value could appreciate in future. The 2002 Commonwealth Games £2 coin can fetch up to £20 on eBay and some sell them for £7 or £10.
