Disney Dollar discontinued
2016-05-23 Mon
The special Disney Dollars which were a legal tender since 1987 were discontinued from May 14th, 2016.The Disney Dollar, a popular form of private currency since 1987 was invented by Jack Lindquist (Business Executive and president of the Disneyland theme park in Anaheim, California). The Disney dollars were used as a ‘legal tender’ in the Disney parks and were tied with the price of the US dollar. (1 Disney dollar = 1 USD). The notes exist in denominations of $1, $5, $10, $20 and $50.
The bills will continue to be “legal tender” at all Disney U.S. locations but however due to the rising use of gift cards and digital currency the printing of more Disney dollars will be discontinued.
Disney dollars were always very famous with the people. As there will not be any new prints of these dollars, the now limited supply will result in upward pricing trends amongst the collectors.
